How this started
I run Dual Action Roadside, an independent roadside breakdown assistance service. I am out on the road every day, helping motorists who have broken down, run out of fuel, or need a jump start.
For a long time, I was sceptical about electric vehicles. Like a lot of people, I had questions. How far do they actually go? What happens when the battery dies at the side of the road? Are they really cheaper to run, or is that just marketing?
Then I started looking into it properly. Not from YouTube videos or forum opinions, but from real data, real owners, and the breakdowns I was already attending. And I realised something: EVs are not the problem. The problem is that most of the information out there is either written by the manufacturers trying to sell you one, or by enthusiasts who already know everything and forget what it is like to start from scratch.
Why this site exists
When I started researching what it actually takes to buy a used EV, I found almost nothing useful. Every guide assumed you were buying new. Nobody talked about battery lease traps, the real cost of EV-specific parts, or what to check before handing over your money for a second-hand electric car.
So I wrote it myself.
This site and the Complete Guide to Buying a Used EV are everything I wish existed when I started asking questions. 23 chapters, written in plain English, with no brand bias and no fluff. Just the stuff you actually need to know, written by someone who sees what goes wrong every single day.
